Being registered to vote ensures your voice is heard in every election—including important decisions about our schools and community. Here’s how you can register to vote in Whatcom County.

Who Can Register?

You are eligible to register to vote if you:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of Washington state
  • At least 18 years old
    • If you are 16 or 17, you can sign up as a Future Voter and be automatically registered to vote when you qualify
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order
  • Not currently serving a sentence of total confinement in prison for a felony conviction in Washington state
  • Not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony conviction

Ways to Register

You have several convenient options:

Online

  • Fastest and easiest way for most people.
  • You’ll need a Washington State driver license or ID card.
  • Register online at the official Washington voter portal at VoteWA.gov at least 8 days before Election Day.

By Mail

  • Download and print a voter registration form from the Whatcom County website.
  • Forms are available in multiple languages.
  • Complete and mail the form to the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office. The form must be received (not just postmarked) at least 8 days before Election Day.

In Person

After Registering

Ballots are automatically mailed to all registered voters at least 18 days before Election Day. You can check your registration status, update your address, and track your ballot at VoteWA.gov.
